Curriculum – Learn with S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math)

IVY Kidz Academy curriculum is S.T.E.A.M inspired that involves core principles of science, technology, engineering, art and math throughout classroom areas and daily routines. Connecting practical real world application to academic skills with S.T.E.A.M, enable meaningful and fun learning environment for childern’s daily lives.

There are four essential components to our educational programs:

3) Cognitive, Creativity & Imagination development.

4) Social and emotional development.

Why S.T.E.A.M?

S.T.E.A.M has a unique and effective way of learning that encourages innovation, critical thinking, problem solving skills, and creativity that result in a skilled and talented child. S.T.E.A.M children build necessary skills to traverse the world around them. And it is one of the best way to inculcate this program early on to boost and develop critical and hands on learning experience.

How S.T.E.A.M Works?

To give you an overview, let us start with the classic story of the Three Little Pigs. With S.T.E.A.M, this recognizable tale gets lively through an array of learning experiences and discussions.

• Read the story and then propose critical thinking questions, such as “Why do you think that happened?” (Language Arts)

• Introduce the three types of building materials used by the pigs and discuss their characteristics. (Science)

• In small groups, work together to design and build a pig house. (Engineering)

• Use a variety of tools and materials in the construction of pig houses. (Technology)

• Test the durability of each structure. (Science)

• Chart the outcomes of the durability tests and compare the results. (Math)

• Discuss and hypothesize other ways to build a house to keep the wolf out. (Science/Engineering)

• Create a new collaborative class version of the story, using the children’s ideas. The story can be written with the classroom tablet. (Technology)
